Sidcup U7s unbeaten at the Bromley Festival and finish top of their group !

Well if we thought the boys did well last week at Foxbury; then today they performed out of their skins - well done to each and every single player - the commitment to getting those tags, supporting the man with the ball, and some of the attacking lines and the way we passed the ball was like watching a team with 2 or 3 years experience - not a squad playing in only their 2nd festival.

A quick run down of the match results:

1) Sidcup vs. Old Colfeians; 6-1
What a way to start; a great team effort, some great running and the moment of the match for me, Gabriel flying through the air with a try saving tag in the corner !!

2) Sidcup vs. Beckenham; 4-4
Another really strong performance, and for me anyway a moral victory - Beckenham had a try given that at any level of rugby was a travesty; which I did (quietly and politely of course ) point out to the referee. However we have to accept the rough with the smooth, respect the ref's decision; and to the boys credit they didn't let it affect their performance

3) Sidcup vs. Tunbridge Wells; 3-3
Under the watchful eye of our chairman Jim Fitch, the boys put in another strong showing against the club who are always regarded as one of the strongest in Kent. This was a really close competitive match with the draw being a fair result and as Jim said to the boys afterwards they should be rightly proud of this performance.

4) Sidcup vs. Bromey; 5-1
So gaining some revenge for last week's 3-4 reverse in resounding fashion. Every player contributed to this success and it was rounded off with a great try in the corner by Louie, accepting a monster looped pass from Jack and finally remembering where the try line was !! It was like watching the All Blacks in full flight.....ok I'm getting slightly carried away but it was a fantastic performance.

So a whole festival unbeaten; finished top of our group, 18 tries scored and only 9 conceded; less than any other U7s team in either group - so testament to the boys commitment and ferocious tagging. Steve, Christian and I were really proud, and I hope you parents were too, and I hope the boys were equally proud of themselves.
