SRFC U9s: Foxbury - first festival of contact rugby.
Our Sidcup U9 rugby stars shone in the sun at Foxbury during their first encounter of contact rugby. To say we are proud of them would be a massive understatement, they all played with such heart, passion, commitment and confidence.
From the moment the first game started the nerves of the parents and coaches on the sidelines (I understand some parents were feeling a little light headed at the prospect of their little baby playing contact rugby for the first time) were soon put at ease as the Sidcup U9s looked like a team that had been playing contact for years. Their brief was to make every tackle count and boy did they tackle. Not one of them tried to hide or shy away from a tackle, each and every player stepped up to the challenge and made some solid defensive tackles and great attacking runs with the ball, it really was a impressive team performance.
To win 2 and lose 2, score 19 tries and only concede 10, in their first festival and put in such an awesome all round team performance by each and every player, far exceeded expectations. The players represented themselves, the club and their parents impeccably both on and off the pitch, showing great character and sportsmanship in both victory & defeat.
