Disciplined Sidcup prove too strong for Beccs & Park House

Wow, what a match!

Sidcup U13s meant business right from the start. Every squad member was focused and paying attention in the pre-match warm up. The Team looked great in their new sponsored shirts courtesy of MD Flooring Solutions – thanks Guys!! The U13s set a blistering pace right from the first whistle, from Isaac's opening kick Will, making his Sidcup debut puts in the first of many huge tackles to stop Beccs in their tracks. Jamie gathers the spilled ball to sprint over the line and Sidcup put the first of many tries on the scoreboard. Then, in a flash from the received kick off, Omhang scoops up the ball and runs three quarters of the pitch, shrugging off Beccs tacklers from every direction to score a second try for Sidcup. Despite a knock to his nose he shows great resilience and determination and carries on to support his team.

From the next kick off the boys showed some great handling skills - Teddy offloads to Tom, Tom offloads to Matthew who crashes over the line to make it 3 tries to zero for the Visitors. The crowd are soon cheering again as some great tackling and rucking inspires Jamie’s next run and he charges over the line to make it 4 tries to Sidcup. The ball is kicked to Jamie from the kick off and he breaks through the Beccs defence to score our 5th try of the half! Beccs launch their next attack, Aaron is there as Full Back, he picks up a loose pass and charges back down the pitch. Omhang makes a great run linking up with Teddy at pace who offloads to Daniel wide out on the left wing. Daniel takes on and survives three Beccs players tackling him simultaneously to almost get a score. A great run!

Beccs’ counter attack from their line only to be stopped with some big tackles from Will, Harry L and Jack H. Sidcup turnover the ball on the halfway line and go on the attack. Jamie makes a break feeds the ball to Ted makes a run (almost scoring), Jack H makes a run and finally Will runs and scores his first try for his team - now it is 6 - 0 to Sidcup. A flurry of precision passes follow - Harry to Ted to Matthew, who crashes over the line for the 7th try to Sidcup. Then the action passes to the other wing, George B puts in a blistering run, followed by a massive tackle to stop Beccs again. Will leads the attack again, tackling Beccs two at a time, ripping the ball in contact and cleverly finding Matthew who performs a perfect scissors with Jake the terrier-like scrum half as he takes a massive tackle from a Beccs prop. This stokes the fires of the Sidcup lads, who are inspired to go for another try and Jamie charges over the line to make it 8-0 to Sidcup. The Ref soon blows up for half time, the boys re-hydrate and receive a pep-talk from their coaches, as Julian delivers Churchillian speech inspiring the boys to ever greater effort.

The linesman, Daren also takes a break to re-hydrate and wishes he had worn his trainers as he has had to do so much running around in the first half following the game and being pursued by Burt plus the team's canine mascot up-and-down the line !

PARP! Before we know it, the Ref blows the whistle for the final half and Badger hobbles off the pitch as the team are fired up for the second half as they sense victory is within their grasp. Whoosh ! Jack sprints half the length of the pitch to score the visitors 9th try with Teddy showing great support play matching his pace, always in support should he be required. Beccs valiantly fight on and attack again, George P puts in a huge tackle on one of their forwards inspiring half the team to up the tackle count with Isaac, Charlie, Matthew and Harry L following his lead. Will puts in a massive shift with a series of big tackles, stopping Beccs in their tracks. Sam I'Anson runs up in support as the Full Back hasn't been tested too much in the second half. George B makes a run and is stopped but with a flurry of precision passes by half the team sees Will run again and romp over the line to make it 10 tries to zero. Despite certain victory, the Sidcup boys do not let up and Charlie puts in a cracking tackle on Beccs line followed by a great run by George P, and then George B goes on to score the 11th try. Still the Sidcup team hasn't had enough, a scrum is called and Jake gets the ball out quickly to the eager Backs who show great teamwork as they pass the ball down the line. Beccs show great spirit and fight on despite the relentless onslought.....then it is all over as Jamie scores the 12th and final try and the Ref blows up for full time with minutes to spare.

Beccs were fantastic hosts, the match was played in great spirit and despite its one-sided scoreline both teams acquitted themselves well and showed great discipline and respect. Both teams went through a tunnel giving each other three cheers and adjoined to the clubhouse for a nice Rugby tea (and juice drinking competition). Beccs awarded Will Man-Of-The-Match who due to his absence nominated Harry L to take his fine. It must be said that Harry was rubbish, he only drank half his pint while the Beccs chap downed his and had finished his Mars bar whilst Harry was still laughing and splurting his juice down himself and over everyone. His Dad was deeply ashamed and was glad his older brother James wasn’t there to tarnish his hard earned drinking reputation. LOL!

Well done both sides for a cracking game of Rugby!
