Sidcup U13 recover their form, showed real improvement and are narrowly defeated by their Old Colfeian Visitors (6 Tries to 4 Tries final score) - by Dean Barham

In a game of three 20 minute thirds, the home team showed the crowd some real improvement and led the game during the second third - great to see our squad trying their best! Eventually the visitors were too strong and their right wing scored twice near the end of the match to clinch the victory shortly before the final whistle. Our lads' passing, tackling and above all communication & morale all showed a significant improvement over the last match - well done lads!

There were many notable improvements and stand out performances:

Both Louis and Billy showed their attacking spirit, made some great runs on their respective wings and stopped their opponents on numerous occasions;
Jack's speed and agility really helped the home team and he saved a try just before the final whistle as he caught and put in yet another huge try-saving tackle on a sprinting Old Colfeian;
Both Aaron and Om made some serious runs and were intercepted only just before they could score;
Matthew tackled well and attacked repeatedly after receiving some exceptionally long & well aimed passes from George P;
Harry W put in a couple of ferocious tackles near the end of the match on the left wing;
Harry L too tackled repeatedly to blunt the visitor's attacks and Sam W made some big tackles too;
Ollie too won many of his rucks throughout the match;
· James F made some great tackles and looked good with ball in hand;
· Charlie worked hard in the set-piece and showed his mobility round the park making several strong tackles;
Daniel dazzled the visitors with both his new fluoresecent boots and his charges into their midst;
Aiden worked well recycling the ball from the rucks and scrums, he was on the receiving end of thumping tackle and manfully shook it off;
Good to see the return of both the Tominator and Frank, who both made some exceptional tackles to stop the Colfeian attacks in their tracks;
Issac led numerous team attacks deep in the Old Colfeian half, showed great pace;
George B made some big tackles and James showed continued focus as he harried the visitors;
· Sacha worked hard in the scrums and got round the park well;
Will gave it his all, putting in some huge tackles before a boot to his face meant he needed to retire injured;
Jake showed a sound reading of the game with good communication and good service from the set pieces and breakdowns. He too suffered a boot to the head and is recovering well from his injury; and
Tries were scored by Jack (1st third of the match), Ted (2nd third of the match), Isaac (2nd third of the match) and in a return to form Sam I'A ran in an amazing try collecting the ball off his boot-laces and jinking his way to the line (2nd third of the match).

The team adjourned to the bar with their visitors for a lemonade and a baked spud. Man of the match went to Teddy who literally had his name in lights, the chocolate-eating competition was won by Andre from OC’s.

The team all wished Will, Jake and Jamie well and hoped they recover soon - rumour has it that Will will be showing a very impressive black eye to his school mates on Monday as a badge of honour for his efforts on Sunday.
