Sidcup impress in Medway mauling....

On a mild, breezy morning we gathered on what I call the 'tilty pitch' to play a depleted Medway development squad for a friendly.

We loaned a few of 'ours' to 'theirs' to match up the numbers.

Dave (through bleary eyes, again lol.) & Tom must have given the lads a rousing Churchillian pre match Bulldog pep talk (a nod to our new sponsor),  as we came straight out the traps looking steely eyed and focused with Luke in full throttle for a quickfire try...

Ben M added the extras which he consistently did throughout the game (missed only one i think?), shades of Owen Farrell!!

My pencil was being worn down with our try tally - a couple more from Luke, a nice one from Mitch, one from Ben and Nathan and a couple from Gene (that will cost me)!!

We were looking solid in scrum and line out and we produced some good line speed which regularly found the gaps in Medway's defensive line. My head was pounding with man flu but i do remember some crunching hits coming in from Sam, Ayo and the midfield boys when they occasionally threatened getting over the gain line.  One thing that caught my attention today was how clean we caught the ball at the restarts and the aggressive runs that followed...

Sterner tests will come, however signs of good teamwork, committment and a winning mentality look promising for us.

Medway fought to the bitter end, and were very nice people (perhaps too nice!) but today our shape and dare I say 'class' was the difference.
