TIGER CHALLANGE TOUR.

So the Romans came from Kent to the Celtic strong hold of Minehead somerset. Great touring as tour should be! Our tour leader was Silious Sodous, surported by Givus a Cluos.
We all struggled down the M4 or A303 to meet at Butlins Minehead the base for this year’s end of season jolly. Friday came and went with tour shirts the order of the day.
Now for the rugby, well if I said the boys had a great time Friday I really did mean a great time so good they didn’t want it to end, we all started to see the reality in our pre-match warm up that was to say the least a little laboured but this was tour and the whole event is important for moral.
Saturday 14.00 was the first KO , and a welsh team was our opponents and we weren’t disappointed with the results as chaos consumed as discipline was stretched a little we end ed up loosing 10-5 but eh sidcup side looked a little jaded cant think why .
The second game and although we tried the side was half a sleep 0-0 how against a team we should have swept to one side then a howler against old Albanians as we didn’t turn up. 25-5 thank god the days over passed through my thoughts. The boys looked knackered before they started so don’t ask how they looked after 3 games.
Onto the nights festivities, fancy dress, dress code was roman senators, togas with red caps, and it was a full turn out everyone looked great and the boys grave the traditional birthday bash to josh Fenn. Some good chats and every parents had there chance to catch up on the latest gossip why the boys strengthened there bonds around the camp site and amusements. Hopefully they would get a little more sleep tonight I thought. ! I new I was asking a little too much..
Sunday see the sun come out and the winds die down, all coaches and dads are in there roman outfits and the referees look a little quizzical, our first game was a little earlier and the 9.00 meeting time to catch the coach was looking decidedly dodgy as at 9.10 we only had 13 players. We finally scrape together a side and off we go still 5 players down. We only have 2 games today so win both and we would still have a cup of some sorts. The boys although tired actually look moor like a team more alert than Saturday and there eyes were actually open.. first up was old Albanians B Team , so they should be a little easier than the As, only a little as we run in 2 tires but still try and loose the game with some poor decisions making,10-5 next up is yes you guessed it Old Albanians C team , strange as I could see 4/5 from the same side who beat us on Saturday , god we put pressure on them and finally break through to score almost immediately we play some silly rugby and its 5-5. They have a very quick winger who ran us ragged on Saturday but Sol the exocet missile was on song to day and 3 time chased and caught this little speedster.. we somehow win on the first try scored.. Oh well a wins a win.
So its beer o’clock for the “coaches” and back to base camp for a relax and ready for fines night, by the time this comes around at 19.30 most are clearly a little wayward anyway, alls fair in love and war as they say , court was held and overseen by Del Master Aka Silious Sodus a great night ensued but that’s another story for those who attended.
