Its our first festival of the year and foxbury may have come to quick for our under 13s, lets see how our boys would cope against the strong opposition.

A bright sunny morning in sews as we arrive at old Es rugby ground, the pitches look in great condition as always the welcome is warm, after a jovial briefing from Mathew the old E coach we all retire back to our squads to prepare the teams.

Sidcup draw old Es and coombe in their pool, two strong side so first we have OLD Es our old neighbours are always a strong advisory but this year there coaches have there side playing well and they soon put tries on a shocked Sidcup side , Olds Es run out worthy winners but I must say without sourer grapes some of the Es coaches attitude to the game is far from ideal, no coaches should encourage the sort of behaviour I witnessed, apart form the sidcup side rugby lost today, just poor sportsmanship and hopefully I wont see it again this season.
Next up was coombe and after a great run by sol usher he crosses the line only to loose the ball trying to ground it, ooooh ! things then go down hill as the coombe pack get on top and our pack loose out again for the second game , two game no tries ! so a harsh lesson is learnt from their opposition today.
Our back line tackled to their ability but a honest look will see too many missed tackles and not enough support leaving the boys down but not finished, the new boys now know whats required to play the best sides in kent and that’s mental as well as physical ability.
We play old colfe in the final game who are looking to build their squad and the smaller side had no answer for sidcups final flourish as there experienced larger pack get on top for the first time today and the new look back line eventually play to there ability.

The Parents stood up and cheered loudly showing there surport all day bar one, I am not sure why one of us still insists on cheering louder for the opposition rather than sidcup i am in favour of support for all but this is verging on the ridiculous and shamful in my opinion...
So for the Sidcup thaithful i salute you all.

Bromley are our next opposition at cresent farm and another chance to see how our boys can cope with club rugby and the big pitch.
Until then.
