A solid performance ......for most of the match.

A home match, on the 1st team pitch the first of three fixtures against Essex clubs. Our captain and vice captain are out injured, the opposition results indicate we are up against a dangerous and buoyant team who look big and powerful. We agree 3 thirds commencing with a first choice team;
Cup kickoff, a great kick which comes down icy, the chase complements the kick we are first there unfortunately Sidcup knock on ....unlucky. Clearly the heads are on this and from the following phase the forwards pressure wins a penalty. Sidcup kick to touch and cleanly catch the lineout a driving maul winning another penalty, Sidcup don't give the defence time to aline and go quickly Josh pops to winger Alex who out paces his oppo and runs in a early try. Callum converts 7-0.

Sidcup's 2nd try again comes straight from kick off, the whites catch and set, Josh dummies his man steps into the gap and off loads to 2nd row Jack Green who akin to a race horse powers through two tackles and steams in under the posts from half way 14-0

Sidcup knock on the kick off on giving Westcliff their first meaningful possession in our half their set piece scrummaging is excellent and puts Sidcup's pack on the back foot! Sidcup manage to again turn over in the middle of the park on our 10 some controlled phases of play create space, then a great passage of play; Innes chips over the defence collects his kick and evades the full back but unfortunately drops the ball over the line, the backs collect 22 and run through the hands presenting an overlap for Alex's second 21-0 end of quarter

Sidcup make 10 changes for next third and receive the KO
Strong running from the forwards set the tempo, good hands and a great line from Dami opened the defence for the first score under the sticks 7-0
Good patience and forward pressure sees Westcliff score from a 5 meter scrum Sidcup poorly defend the wheel giving our wing no chance against the big 8 , 7-5
Sidcup finish the scoring after the forwards turn over on the oppo 10 the centres combined with Dami running a excellent line to go under the sticks, Callum converts and the third finishes 14-5.

A mixed group on for the last third Sidcup start stupidly, running in front of kicker immediately giving away a pen, they then concede another in front of posts 0-3
Sidcup again infringe from the kick off and proceed to give another two quick penalties away presenting Westcliff with another kick at goal, Sidcup continued to play poorly inviting wave after wave of attack and giving away stupid pens which results in conceding a try which in all fairness had been coming for 10 mins, the final third finished 0-8.

The game was played in good sprit which continued in the bar, after eating both sets of boys took part in Two boat races ....the second being spillage free! Sidcup will look forward to a return fixture in Essex early next season....training is on Wednesday night next Sunday we are at home to Thurrock
