First game in 5 weeks evident, a game of two half's

A friendly at Vigo not a team we play often or know well, Sidcup make changes to the previous starting line up, the pack still look strong and mobile, the backs look big and fast, on paper a good team lets see how it looks on grass. Vigo were missing some key players due to what sounds like a rather brutal school game yesterday, Dami/ Alex and Miles Sheriff volunteer to play for the oppo.
Vigo won the toss and decided to play up the slope and into the low sun, Spencer Hills caught and set the kick off, The forwards driving into Vigo's 22 Sidcup set up camp, phase after phase they are thwarted by good if last ditch defence, finally the clear cut chance comes, a two man overlap .......squandered by white line fever Sidcup are held up, Vigo clear their lines, but only temporarily as from a ruck Spencer Hills receives a good pass from Burgess 5 meters out and crashes over to open the scoring. From the kick off he forwards pick and drive again making good hard yards, somehow the backs again mess up another over lap before centre Sam Watson scored the first of a brace. Hills scored a second after a series of very scrappy play, Sidcup's forwards at this point seemed happy to meander across the park, stopped rucking and thought nothing of getting in the way of the backs, time and time again Sidcup knocked on allowing Vigo to clear their line, the forwards were not only lethargic in the loose, the scrum channel was plugged and the line outs resembled a tropical island - all waving palms. Still Sidcup finished the half with four unanswered try's up 26 - 0 up.

Normally this forward biased correspondent can be heard stating something along the lines of ' The backs are easily identified because they generally have clean jerseys and immaculate hair... Come the revolution backs will be the first lined up against the wall and shot for living parasitically off the work of others' however today, in the second half playing up the slope and into a bright low sun they clicked and scored a couple of excellent try's no coincidence the forwards were now playing with more swagger clearing out rucks and delivering good clean, quick ball.
Sidcup again open the scoring a good line in the centres gave Ben Hart the chance to open up and speed over the line. Vigo kick off deep and Sidcup allow the ball to bounce forcing a knock on inside our 22 Vigo win the scrum and put Sidcup's line under pressure, their backs coming from great depth using the slope well, Vigo's Sidcup winger Alex broke through a very 'handsy' tackle to score in the corner, the 2 extra points were kicked rather nonchalantly by Dami. Sidcup saved the best for last The pack turned over a scrum 10 meters from Vigo's line, Hills picked from 8 and fed flanker Arby, who was held up under the posts, another scrum, this time Burgess fed Cryan who attacked the blind side, inside centre dummy and a miss pass to Winger Heikel in acres of space to round off a great move and an interesting game.
Hills/ Dole/ Davis/ Maloney/ Stewart/ Cryan and Watson all own fines for various misdemeanours.
In the bar Sidcup's man of the match played the entire game for Vigo, well done Dami/ Alex and Miles for changing shirts for the day we know it's difficult, but you seemed to enjoy smashing into your team mates! Finally Sidcup managed to remain unbeaten winning the 6 man boat race. A good day out thank you to Vigo.
