Sidcup concede home advantage but still record an impressive win

The second leg of the Kent Cup the under 15’s faced Westcombe Park. Unfortunately due to waterlogged pitches Sidcup had to concede home advantage, thankfully rather than cancel Westcombe Park let the boys play on their 1st team pitch, which was in immaculate condition.

Welcoming back Captain Sully Davis Sicdup won the toss and used the breeze and low sun to their advantage, receiving the kick off the whites immediately pressured WP dominating both possession and territory, after stealing WP’s line out ball on their 10 meter line the forwards drove into the 22 the ball was passed through the backs with Dami being stopped just short of the line Spence Hills picked and drove over to open the scoring. Sidcup instantly continued to assert their dominance and scored again very quickly the forwards made good ground driving from clean line out ball, the ball went through the backs hands to winger Dami who scored in the corner, Callum Innnes impressively converted Sidcup 12 – 0 up after 6 minutes. The next score came from turnover scrum ball in WP’s 22 No.8 Hills picked and drove just short of the whitewash, Callum Innes was left with a simple run in under the posts. The next score was try of the half, Sidcup received the kick off and after 8 phases of play Arby Kehmet burst through the defence to score. Sidcup remained camped in WP’s 22 for the remainder of the half and Hills managed to add to his consistent scoring tally picking from the tail of a 5 meter scrum and driving over to round the half off 31-0.
Sidcup very quickly opened the scoring in the 2nd half, the forwards finishing off a training ground penalty move to open the scoring Sidcup made numinous changes and got all the subs on for valuable match time and the general pattern of the match remained the same, Sidcup dominating through the forwards (took in total 12 scrums against the head, only to be frustrated by the backs knocking on 8 times!)Ben Hart, Sam Watson and Kwami all scored. It was a very rounded performance and good to see the lads putting the Canterbury result behind them. Thanks to Paul Bensley for traveling to Oprington to ref and to Westcombe Park for providing a pitch and food for the boys after the game we would also like to wish a speedy recovery to the WP player who broke his ankle.

Worth logging on to see Josh Cryan's conversion attempt!
