Sidcup toughed out a tight win in terrible conditions.

Spencer Hills opportunist try paired with Joe Elliott's conversion was the difference between the teams, the awful weather was a real leveller and helped keep Darts in the match.

Sidcup started brightly a massive tackle from Dami Odeyingbo forced a knock on and set the platform for the 1st attack, sustained Sidcup pressure on the Darts line together with numerous spurned chances Darts somehow managed to keep the whites at bay.
Wave after wave of Sidcup attack was thwarted the pack won clean line out ball and drove to the whitewash. With glory beckoning the ball was dropped (a common theme of insufficient communication in the forwards) all very frustrating, another knock on allowed Darts to clear their lines and mount their first and pretty much only attack, good handling skills in wet conditions saw them breach the line and open the scoring in the corner. Ross Gladdish hit the poles with the conversion attempt.
The resulting kickoff was allowed to run into touch Sidcup stole the line out and again the pack drove close to the try line ball was spun out to the backs Joe Elliott and Ben Hart combined but resolute defence a meter out again thwarted Cup and forced a knock on. James Fairbrass hooked the scrum ball against the head Spencer Hills picked up at 8 and drove over the line to score keeping up his impressive record of a try in every match this season.
The second half was a stalemate much of the game was played in and around the Darts 10 with both sets of backs exchanging kicks in an attempt to win field position. Sidcup's forward dominance did give them the territory edge but sadly did not add to the score line, the game concluded with the conversion being the difference.
As ever Darts were a good test and the Sidcup coaches were happy with a solid dominant display ahead of the Kent Cup.
Thanks to Paul Bensley for refereeing and excellent vocal support from Porkey's under 14's. It was also great to see some of the injured players (can't believe so many players are already unavailable) on the touch line cheering their mates on. Training is on as usual Wednesday and next Sunday .
