Following a gritty trail match at Bromley Sidcup played host to our old nemeses TJ's.

Sidcup U15s 76 - 21 Tonbridge Judd's

Sidcup coaches had again decided to utilise the whole squad, every fit player (yes a couple are injured already) gained valuable playing time and splitting the game into three 25 minute periods gave the coaches an opportunity to check different combinations.
The warm up went well, it's clear everybody is focused Mark gives the boy boys a recap of the game plan and sends the starting 15 onto the park. There was an excellent reception from an unusually busy crowd, a quick cuddle and a bit of chest banging and Sarge got them underway.
Sidcup start strongly immediately dominating the early territorial battle a couple of good lineouts secured quick ball for the backs who are agonisingly close to opening the scoring, quick ruck ball gave Spencer Hills the honours of opening the scoring for the second week running. Judd's quickly hit back, after securing the KO Sidcup kick clumsily missing touch and giving Judd's the chance to counter, a chip into space and a fly hack later they are under the posts and 5 - 7 up. It's fair to say it was pretty much one way traffic the the remainder of the 1st period with Sidcup scoring a further 4 try's to lead 22 - 7.
The second third followed the same pattern a special mention has to go to prop Jimmy Dole who collected a clearing kick on TJ's 10 meter line (possibly having listened to his dad in the bar afterwards and recapping on this epic moment at least 3 times the half way line) Tight head prop Jim proceeded to bullock through the TJ's back line and charge under the posts .....there are rumours of a side step and the final handoff on the full back lifted the poor chap 6 inches off the floor! A pleasing way to finish the 2nd period 48 - 7.
The final period saw Ben Hart and Theo score a brace each and Alex Owen scoring on his home debut. The whole squad played very well even though a good number of players were purposely played in positions to test their comfort zone. The front rows fitness is much improved on last season Finn Britton was like an extra flanker and covered every blade of grass, the backs running lines were good, two different fly and scrum halfs , half back combinations all mixed up everybody did themselves proud and did the basics very well...... There was even clear communication in the scrum! Back to training next Sunday followed by Dartfordians on Sunday 13th October.
