Sidcup seize chance to set the record straight. By Matt Floyd

Bromley arrive at Crescent Farm as one of only two teams to upset the party on the first game of the season. With the Christmas holiday over Sidcup take to the field to work off the turkey and put this right.

Sidcup once again with a positive start (this is becoming a habit). Showing great composure in defence with chop tackles flying in on a lumpy Bromley side. This forces the early error from.

First scrum. Andy Hind destroys his opposite man...I think he may even be crying over there. However the ref penalizes him for what I can only understand as being for assault as the scrum was clearly legal. Be gentle Andy...penalty amounts to nothing.

Applied pressure within the Bromley half but hands let us down and Bromley get the ball back inside there own 10. They go through the phases but fail to clear and return the favour. Knock on.

Scrum 5. Quick ball off the base and Joel smashes through 4 defenders on a tight line for the try. Conversion good. Joel gets his panties in a bunch about something and voices his upset.... the restart will be a penalty to Bromley.

Bromley kick to touch and the cup defence are judged to be offside at the lineout, Bromley kick at goal 7-3 Discipline becoming an issue.

From the restart Bromley kick deep into sidcup half into touch.

Cup with a sudden rush of blood to the head stupidly take a quick line-out and get caught in possession this gives another Bromley penalty kicked to the corner line-out. Complete head loss there from Sidcup but poor execution from Bromley, lucky to escape without conceding as John Wilde counter rucks manfully and gets the turnover. Cup clear their lines.

Wilford and Osborne get through some excellent work on the carry. Passing between themselves and smashing the Bromley defence aside.

Huge cup scrum after a knock on from Bromley and some beautiful hands from the backs up into the Bromley 10. Unfortunately the support isn't quite there and a slow clear out gives away another pen.... Bromley again with the clearance but there is no respite as Cup win back possession.

Some amazing hands again but knocked on once more as the final pass is launched from close range...penalties and handling errors currently the only thing beating sidcup as Bromley more or less spectate in this opening half.

Wilford makes a huge tackle after the restart. The follow up clear out is aggressive and this time the advantage goes to the men in white. Penalty to sidcup.

Wakefield seizes the initiative and Scrum is chosen, upper hand gained and Dan Leighton feeds Max who sends Barwick on the carry. The ball is recycled this time and hands are good, Joel goes over again in the corner. Pressure starting to reflect on the score board but Dan misses the kick 12-3.

The kick off is high and the chase is good with the pressure forcing the knocke on from Bromley. Sidcup play through the phases. Dangerous tackle on Wilford and that's a sidcup pen. Not sure if that was a High tackle, neck roll or some form of DDT.

Kick doesn't find touch but it's knocked on by Bromley once again....this is starting to become the kind of game only Andy Hind could enjoy scrum sidcup. Max gets the backs going once again but the final pass once more goes to ground, hands again undoing some positive sidcup play. Andy trudges over much to the displeasure of his opposite man... starting to feel sorry for that guy.

Sidcup win the scrum and attack the blind side Max Drysdale breaks wrong footing the defender and just as the cover tackles fly in launches the most outrageous no look round the back pass to Barwick who goes over. The touchline are besides themselves....absolutely ridiculous score....he had no right to make that pass, no right at all. Max wanders back to half way offering up a shrug of the shoulders to the sidelines.... kick is good 19-3.

Wilford and Osborne combine again with great carries. Evan chips in and makes some yards too. Ball sent wide Joel passes!!! And Barwick is brought down 5 out. Penalty conceded by Bromley again and cup go for the scrum. Loose hands this time but no knock on and Bromley break.... it's a foot race as the ball is hacked through Cup scramble back but now it's knocked on. Bromley with a rare visit to the sidcup half only to once again return the favour and knock on.

With a break in play as a bromley man is down (possibly the one Andy Hind has been mutilating all game) the other Andy clearly day dreaming on the touch line fails to get water on, much to the disgust of Maz....too slow buddy

Cup lineout on half way as Bromley throw to touch. Huge drive and a great line from Joel. More slick hands and Wilford is over in the corner. 24-3 with the missed kick (Dan's radar clearly off) and that's the half.

The score not reflecting the sidcup dominance in attack and defence the challenge now not to let Bromley back in the game. Evan takes two minutes to deposit his scrambled eggs on the touchline... Joe Holsgrove starts warming up.

The restart is high and deep despite calls from George Osborne, John 'The Salmon' Wilde fields it. He steps one...steps a second and the break is on, he fixes the last man and off loads to Wilford who goes under the posts beautiful work and heart breaking for Bromley. Surely that is the game now as the opposition have nothing but looks of dejection to offer. Kick missed right under the sticks? Really Dan? Really... 29-3

Bromley put a beautiful kick up and pinch the restart but as the ball is recycled knock on again, must have left their hands in 2017...this is getting ridiculous now.

Cup counter from the scrum but the attack ends in another knock on.... Scrum Bromley, finally seeing some of the ball they venture into the Sidcup half , the white wall holds firm again with big hits coming from Evan. Cup give away a pen. Lineout Bromley 10m out. Cup steal but knock on.... can someone please just keep hold of the ball for 5 minutes without throwing it forwards.

From the restart Wilford chops the biggest lad on the pitch as he trundles off the back of the breakdown and Bromley throw to no one with the ball flying into touch.

Cup clear from the line out and Bromley knock on fielding the kick on half way the restart sees sidcup start to find the hands with ball finally getting past joel and alex! ginge gets a rare opportunity to stretch his legs but is dragged out 15m from the line.

Joe Holsgrove comes in for Evan who is now looking very pale and Crispy comes on for Wakefield

Wilford now captain and still in search of his jug.

Huge scrum against the head in the middle of the park and the ball is out to the backs Max again fixing the Bromley defence and sending Barwick through, he cuts inside but dances through 4 tackles and goes under the posts. Kick is good 36-3.

Cup get it going again from the restart, this time George Osborne gets his chance to run it. A few phases and Crispy carries hard, the ball is recycled, Joe Holsgrove fumbles but its adjudged to have travelled backwards, Wilford mops it up and goes on the carry rumbles over his man and lifts the pass off the deck hands are good through the backs again and ginge breaks down the wing, this time he stands his man up on the touchline and there is Wilford to pick it up charging through the gap and goes over under the sticks. Dan Leighton with the quick drop goal misses again????.... 41-3

The game has started to break down a little as Bromley appear to have completely lost interest. Maz sends Greggo off to the changing room to find his stash of drugs.... A couple of Bromley players eyeing him up enviously probably starting to wish they had stayed in there too.

Crispy barrels through but effectively tackles himself as he face plants into the deck, the extra weight of the ball upsetting his delicate balance, the quick ball comes out now and with the Bromley defence nowhere to be seen Joel runs in from half way for his Hat-trick. Dan sensing the pressure from the touchline calls for the tee and takes his time this time. Kick is good 48-3.

Dan Leighton vacates the field with Max moving to 9 and Sam Foster deployed on the wing. Ginge gets a chance to pull the strings. However as the change is made Bromley point out that a few of there lads have had enough and are down to 13 men, they wave the white flag.

Sidcup accept the surrender after a short debate. Game called with about 20 to go.

Final score 48-3

Honorable mentions: Wilford, Barwick, Joel, The Salmon and The White Wall.

MOM: Max Drysdale showing everyone what he is capable of and really getting the back line ticking and kicking well out of hand.

Tremendous effort and Bromley put in there place.
