Dartfordians Vs Sidcup Math report

Written by Pain Train Fawole

Another week goes by another confirmed win for Sidcup 2XV, and this week wasn’t any different. This week’s fixtures were no different to the others. With a good win over Tring last week away along with a trip down the road to face Dartfordian at their stomping ground a, win was inevitable, and failure wasn’t an option. Sidcup had their mindset right and were intending to bring the same style of rugby from last week into this game.
With the return of Nicolas Agbo and surprising guest appearance from “Soon to be joining Sidcup” E C, the front row was looking solid. That goes for the big bench as well.

Sidcup kicks off not with the best of kicks from full back Seb Ellison which led to Dartfordians first scrum. The mistake was quickly rectified with Sidcup dominating the scrum with strong tight 8 scrum that led to a penalty to Sidcup.

Sidcup managed to make a few passes and score early in the game by young winger (T Bevan). Conversion by Elision 7-0 Sidcup
Kick-off again with a great take from resident catcher Charlie Warner, allowed Sidcup’s second row to run hard in opposition midfield. This then progressed for Sidcup to have added passion.
Sidcup continued to run a range of phases together to produce one out rugby with ball in hand. They were looking vast too strong for the opposition. Dartfordians didn’t quit so easily they came back fighting with strong carries from their big boys. Sidcup started to fall asleep and allowed the opposition to gain yards in their half but, Sidcup’s defence held strong with good line speed. A great line speed and tackle by Pain train and Nick Gilbert allowed the opposition to fold, scrum Sidcup.

Dartfordians came back fighting with pick and goes to draw closer to Sidcup’s try line. Reasonable backs play from the opposition as well as more carries from their 12 resulted in a try for Dartfordians, in the process knocking out Hooker Anton Dennis with a possible head injury. This allowed Agbo to come on and make some impact in the game and scrum.

Another, won scrum with good possession allowed Sidcup to dominate the game more. This Involved good hard lines from Dave Pain Train Fawole, Nick Gilbert and Max O’Leary giving Sidcup that light at the end of tunnel. The half time whistle was welcomed which allowed Sidcup to regroup and make some changes to the squad. Wise words from coaches Josh Twyford and Connor copper to build the intensity up.

The second half kicked off with intensity built and carries from Charlie warner and Freddie Ruff and Nick Gilbert. Big carry from gilbert led to a score for cup under the post, conversion made by Seb 14-7. Cup built further with great play and pressure on Dartford boys defence, which led to them making mistakes. Penalty close to opposition 5-meter line, line-out Cup. Good driving maul from Cup led to El captain Connor cooper to work out and add another score to Sidcup’s tally. The win was looking ever so promising for Sidcup. The potential win led to Sidcup to fall asleep and make silly errors and give their no.9 kicker more hope to add to the score board from different positions of the field. 21-16. Cup were slowly awoken by these three consecutive penalties and they needed a kick up the backside.
Sidcup were give a saving grace with a penalty close to the post that was converted by Seb . 24-16.

Another won scrum in the oppositions 22 m line by cup allowed No.8-star Freddie to gain yards and there was no stooping him. Try to cup with another conversion by Seb. 31-16. Great play from Cup in the last 10 mins of the game. Let’s hope they can continue their winning streak and take their great skills and intensity to next week with potential tough game in hand at home to Sevenoaks.

Stand out players T Bevan, George Kimble and Man of the match given to Eddy Cudworth. Let’s hope Danny Mizen finds a proper functional pen for him to sign that Sidcup transfer contract.
