On the morning of one of the biggest days in any Sidcup player or supporter’s social calendar; the legendary Ladies Day, the Sidcup 2s were ready to give the large crowd something to cheer about and something for them to celebrate. Although we don’t usually need an excuse to drink it’s always nice to have one.

Sidcup started strong with Louis Keeley scoring early in the right corner. The star full back steps up to take the kick, the crowd falls silent, he then scuffs the kick and pulls his hamstring, seeing him off for the rest of the game making notes for his match report.

Beckenham then found themselves with a penalty inside Sidcup’s half, the pen was kicked through the posts making it a 2-point game. Sidcup picked themselves up with a pin point cross field kick from DJ Steve to Louis Keeley again in the right corner. The conversion was missed by DJ Steve; it was at this point super star Louis Keeley decided he was too good for the 2s and left the field to complete his hat-trick in the 1s.

Now having lost their full back and winger it was all down to man of the match Oli White to continue the scoring with DJ Steve getting the conversion. With Brandon now on the pitch, after eventually turning up, having heard Louis had scored twice and taken his spot in the 1s, Brandon was on a mission to regain his position scoring under the posts with the kick knocked over by the resident DJ. Beckenham fought back with a nice interception try with the conversion kicked over making the score 29-10 to Sidcup.

With Brandon not wanting to be outdone he wasted no time in running his second under the post with DJ Macs getting the conversion. Sidcup back on the attack with some very impressive support play ending with Gilbert going over the line with the conversion knocked over. Andre feeling like he has been missing out on all the tries runs 2 in in quick succession one of which being a nifty chip and catch running in under the post with one of the conversions kicked making the score 55-10.

Beckenham not giving up against a strong Sidcup performance hit back again with a try, conversion missed. Sidcup frustrated with letting in a try, were soon back on the attack putting together some more great support play finishing with Sam Leek touching down under the post. It was here that DJ Steve’s obsession with the rugby post continues with the conversion coming off the upright. Sidcup weren’t done there with DJ Steve spinning out a miss pass for Dave ‘Pain Train’ Fawole to seize and crash over the line. Dave having scored decided he had had enough and rolled off the pitch injured from a little push from Beckenham’s smallest player as he was putting the ball down over the line. Steve knocked the conversion over for a final score of 67-15.
