With storm brian in town the conditions were far from ideal as Guernsy come to Crescent Farm. With the strong winds the main talking point, nearly taking the slight figure of JT into orbit from the top of the stand.

Sidcup won the toss and chose to battle the strong wind first and started strongly with the streamlined James Poland defying the wind and making a scintillating break from fullback only for play to break down later on.

However it was guernsy who put the first points on the board after some outstanding defence from the home side only to be beaten by a slight offload out of the tackle to put the away side in under the sticks.

Sloppy work from kick off meant Sidcup were under the cosh again and guernsy put another one past the home side. But Sidcup were straight back into gear excellent backs play and hard carries from the forwards up the field allowed Connor Cooper to slide over after an unexpectedly good offload from Jamie cutler making his 200th appearance for the club.

However momentum stopped there for the Sidcup side as pressure from the men in green and white saw the captain jon west go to the bin. A tough ten minutes for Sidcup with not only the wind but numbers now against them and a lack of concentration saw the home team concede three tries in quick succession to go into half time 33-5 down.

But in classic Sidcup fashion they knew they were not beaten, confident talk in the sheds and the team came out ready to take it to the opposition with the wind behind them. However Poor handling errors held the home side back but eventually after consistent pressure in defence el capitano raced through under the posts after interecepting a lofty pass caught in the wind.

Impact sub Dan Thomas then saw his first and only touch of the ball while indiscipline cost the team as the referee reached for his pocket again to send more Sidcup players to the bin. Ultimately this cost the team as Sidcup couldn’t get into the game and let Guernsey close out the game. Final score 38-17

Despite three losses in the row against good opposition confidence still high in the Sidcup camp and a strong performance away to Tring next week will see the mighty cup back in the winners circle.
