Foxbury Festival - U8s

Great start to the season for Sidcup U8s - a beautiful sunny day, we played some really good rugby especially our attacking play, we played it in a great spirit and hopefully everyone enjoyed it. It was great to have all our new players there and hopefully they all got a bit of an introduction to competitive rugby, and that they feel part of the squad.

A quick run down on the results for anyone that wasn't able to make it:

SRFC 9 vs. Old Colfeians 4 - great way to start and some great tries

SRFC 3 vs. Westcombe Park 3 - WP were the eventual overall cup winners, and they come from a hugely well resourced club with lots of experienced players, so this was a very creditable draw

SRFC 2 vs. Beccehamians 4 - we got complacent here - we beat them several times last season, but some simple mistakes in attack and defence cost us dear

SRFC 4 vs. Old Elthamians 3 - always good to beat your local rivals, especially on their own patch when they had some quite exuberant home support. Personally I don't even care about the final - just wanted to win this one, so thanks boys !!

So 2nd place in the group and onto the Plate final vs. Sevenoaks

SRFC 5 vs. Sevenoaks 9 (officially, I thought it was 7 ?!) - unlucky to lose. Sevenoaks were the stronger side 2nd half, but were given a headstart by a ridiculous try where the kid had 20 strides after his tag. But hey ho, we accept the decision and move on - there'll be plenty of calls that go our way through the season.

So, to wrap up - well played everyone. Steve and I are very proud of the whole squad, and see you all next week to build on a great start.
