This weekend, Sidcup girls went to Dartfordians RFC to play a league match against their U15 team. Despite the chilly weather, the girls felt well prepared and excited. Kickoff was at 1 o’clock and as Dartfordians could only fill 10 players, Sidcup agreed to play 10 a-side. This meant that Sidcup had to work closely on defense with less players than they are used to, however this allowed for a few subs to swap on during the game. It was a very strong start of the match for Sidcup with a try scored within the first few minutes of the game!
A further 8 tries and 3 conversions were scored by the sidcup girls during the first half of the match. By half time, the score was 51- 0 to Sidcup so it was decided that it would be more beneficial for both teams to stop the game early and mix teams to play a friendly match. Although at first the girls were a bit hesitant to mix, it worked really well and the girls got to know each other quickly and work together. This was a good experience for everyone to get to play with another team and against some of their own teammates.
The Dartfordians coach gave positive feedback when he praised the girls on their “Massive improvement from the match against Dartfordians a couple of years ago.”
The girls enjoyed their time both in the match and the friendly training game, so big thanks to all of the coaches and players.
