One of the hardest working members of Sidcup RFC, not only did Allan serve as Club Secretary, Club Coaching Coordimator and many other roles besides but he was, more importantly, a mentor to many, myslef included, throughout his years with club.
Allan, along with a small group of other club stalwarts, guided the new Committee through some challenging years in the late 2000s. As Club Secretary he was a mine of information about how things were done, why certain decisions were made and what pitfalls to avoid. Such continuity was priceless. He never told us what to do, yet he was always there - steady, and ready - whenever advice or guidance was needed.
His generosity with his time, experience, and wisdom shaped countless moments behind the scenes, but it was in his mentoring of club coaches at every level that Allan’s influence was felt most deeply. Many members who found themselves involved in coaching age‑group rugby will fondly remember the quiet, reassuring way Allan offered support, helping them grow in confidence and capability. He will be sadly missed.
Details of Allan's funeral are not yet available but will be published here in due course.
