It is with regret that we have to announce that club Vice President Cliff Laurence sadly passed away on New Years Eve at the age of 94.

Cliff joined the club in 1948 and in a playing career of almost 20 years appeared at wing forward for all the club XVs from the 1st XV down to the 6th XV skippering the "B" (the fourth team) in 1960-61 and 1961-62 and the "C" (the sixth team) in 1962-63 and 1963-64.

Following retirement from playing he took up refereeing for several seasons and also held the position of Hon Club Secretary in 1971.

He also he acted as Team secretary on and off for five seasons (firstly in 1960) a position which, as some will attest, required great forebearance and the patience of Job. If you are unaware of what being Team Secretary involved I would recommend reading the article he wrote for the Centenary handbook.

In later years he continued to attend the club as supporter and until very recently was a familiar face at the VPs and Centurions lunch. He will be greatly missed by the club, his family and friends.

The date of the funeral has yet to be announced.
